KALAMAZOO, Mich., May 4 – Nancy Kreis Newman has joined Vestaron Corporation as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Previously, Newman was chief financial officer with A.M. Todd Group, Inc., a manufacturer of essential oils, flavor compounds and botanical extracts, located in Kalamazoo.
“We are extremely pleased Nancy has joined us,” said John L. McIntyre, Ph.D., Vestaron president and chief executive officer. “Her broad financial background, in both large and small companies, will help us as we transition from developing our innovative insecticides, to selling products in the marketplace.”
Newman’s experience includes both public and privately held companies ranging in size from startups to Fortune 500. She has had responsibility for tax accounting and compliance, treasury management, shared accounting services, financial services for life sciences startups and has served as chief financial officer for a multi-national company. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University.
“I am excited to be at Vestaron,” Newman said. “Entrepreneurial companies like Vestaron are the engine of job growth in our economy. Companies growing as fast as Vestaron present unique challenges. I look forward to working with John and the rest of the team at Vestaron to manage our growth and transition to a manufacturer of next-generation insecticides.”
Vestaron is developing a new generation of insecticides using peptides from spiders. The company’s technology is based on ground-breaking research conducted at the University of Connecticut. Over 50 unique, natural insecticidal peptides have been identified. This patented technology is exclusively licensed to Vestaron. Products under development have a unique mode of action, are highly effective against insects and related pests and are harmless to non-target species, including humans. Target markets include agriculture, animal health and specialty non-crop uses such as household insects. Vestaron products will be ideally suited for the environmentally conscious twenty-first century. www.vestaron.com
