Research Strategy
Vestaron has developed a focused research and development strategy to maximize the value of its spider peptide technology. The first element of the strategy is to develop a series of spider peptides for use as insecticides. Three such peptides, each with a different mode of action, are currently in the development pipeline. Vestaron has fully characterized these three peptides and the active binding site for each.
The second element is to express the peptides in plants. This will confer insect resistance upon plants expressing the peptides.
The final element of the R&D plan is to use both rational design technologies and high throughput screening technologies to develop chemicals that mimic the insecticidal activity of spider peptides.
