Vestaron is poised for significant growth in 2025, building on its successful U.S. and EU market expansion and increasing adoption of its award-winning bioinsecticide products. In the first quarter alone, the pioneer in the development of peptide-based crop protection solutions successfully closed an oversubscribed funding round of more than $20 million and received second emergency use authorizations (EUA) for its product in Italy, Greece, and Cyprus.
“Vestaron is all systems go with the full support of our board of directors and investors to advance our strategic plans,” says Juan Estupinan, CEO and President of Vestaron. “Building on the success and groundwork of 2024, our focus is on the development of our EU market footprint and continued efforts to secure permanent approval of our products to assist farmers who are searching for new sustainable crop protection solutions.”
Faced with devastating and costly losses from the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta) moth, tomato growers in the Mediterranean have had to search for alternative crop protection options due to pest resistance to traditional chemical products which are also being banned or restricted. Forging strategic partnerships is key to Vestaron’s expansion plans in the EU, and company representatives have been busy strengthening relationships with grower associations, distributors, and other crop protection players.
Achieving second emergency use authorizations in these countries validates Vestaron’s position as a world leader in the development and commercialization of desperately needed novel tools to protect our food crops.”

World-first peptide technology platform developing new AIs
Vestaron’s technology platform is enabling the discovery of new modes of action and bringing them to market at a pace rarely seen in recent history in the crop protection sector.
Before the end the year, Vestaron expects to receive full regulatory approvals for BASIN™, the second active ingredient to be developed and commercialized in just five years. The addition of a second AI will further strengthen the award-winning SPEAR® LEP bioinsecticide product portfolio.
As an innovator in the peptide crop protection space, Vestaron looks forward to leading exciting dialogues in 2025 around the vast potential posed by maximizing the power of natural molecules. In August, Vestaron will host a series of sessions on peptide technology at the fall meetings of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in Washington, DC.
“We’re ahead of pretty much everyone else in this area. There is a lot of interest in the future of peptides in agriculture as well as many other areas such as life sciences,” Juan says. “We’re looking to bring others into the conversation because we think there’s more than enough room for the space to grow. As leaders in this field, we are in a unique position to share our learnings.”
